A bit rich

In reference to the execution of Saddam Hussein, the Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar has said:

The international community is not in favour of the hanging ...

A sentiment which Kevin Barlow and Brian Chambers would surely appreciate.

What was that about the 'international community'?

At the [UN Human Rights] Commission, Malaysia went as far as to claim that the death penalty is not a human rights issue.

Oh, fuck 'em:

Under Malaysian law, the death penalty is mandatory for some offences and discretionary ... for others.

More on due process here.

Do I detect an agenda at work in Syed Hamid Albar's comments?
