Twitching the net curtains of suburbia


Watched the Channel4 Dispatches documentary The Court of Ken this evening. While it is reasonable to criticise Livingstone for rolling out the welcome mat for sections of the religious right and for having form in relation to material published in the Labour Herald and comments to Newsline, the program contended that Livingstone was tool of the hidden - and sinister - powers of a sect called Socialist Action, despite the admission that Livingstone allows Socialist Action members in his circle to operate only insofar as they are consistent with his policies - so, the secret government is a bit of a damp squib really. Or, as comrade Tractor Boy says:

[T]he London mayor’s relationship with the comrades was a bit one-way – he got a completely loyal mini-political-machine in return for a little bit of leftist posturing on his part[.]

After learning that Livingstone likes to partake of a wee dram while working - he's certainly gone up - ever so slightly -- in my estimation.

Other than that - the programme was utter fucking balls for the most part.

Haven't seen the programme, but guessed it would be poor stuff after reading the supposed revelations in the Sunday Times.

And when I read 'Mikey' over at Harry's Place boasting about how he was " contacted by a researcher for this documentary in September and was wondering if and when this would actually be broadcast . . . " I could only guess that it was a hatchet job pure and simple.

Anyone who thinks that bloke has a working knowledge of the British left shouldn't be working in current affairs television.

Aye -- that's another fucking clown right there. Well spotted Darren. What a complete and weird tosser that one is -- makes Morgoth look like he's the height of sophistication and intellectuality.*

*obviously he isn't but I'm trying to draw out the twatness of mikey by extending the simile to breaking point for effect.
