Stupid song thing
Paulie tagged me for another silly 'meme' the other week. The brief, as originally passed on to him - ie it's not his fault - is to "List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your spring. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to."
'Shaping my spring'? For fuck's sake - where do you even start with that idealist rubbish?
Starting with the ones written or released this century...
I've never heard the original version of this all the way through, but this Manics version is fine:
Tricky's new single - Council Estate ... it smokes:
Weezer, princes of geek rock, the original and the best, don't be satisfied with cheesy imitation - Pork and Beans (and Chris Crocker, the dramatic chipmunk and scads of others):
Sibelius, 5th Symphony, last movement, which to my amazement is on Youtube, here conducted by the noted Sibelius interpreter Esa-Pekka Salonen - the big swoopy theme bit:
Public enemy - Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos, although the
Tricky version is also very good:
The late Ofra Haza - Ash'alech:
OutKast - Bombs Over Baghdad: embedding is disabled for
this one.
I mean to go on as I recently started with these hinternet chain letter thingies and put a stake through its heart and stuff its mouth with garlic.
